Default burning oil at idle, what can slow this down a little?

ok this is in my g/f's car but i wanna know if there are any good products out there to help slow down the oil burning. when the car is at idle (its a stock 98 eclipse) it smokes like hell. took out the 5/30 and put in 10/30 and then put in a no smoke additive. seemed to help reduce oil consumption a lot. thinking about going to 10/40 now. i dont want to go too thick and lose all the fuel mileage. lost 3 mpg from 5/30 to 10/30 and she does a lot of long driving back and forth to school, and since i lost my license i pay for her gas lol. anyway, what else can i do. is there any additive that can help? thanks
