383 (382) LS1 short blocks? I am trying to gather as much info as I can regarding the 383 (382 for purists) LS1 short blocks. I am trying to decide if I want to hassle with just buying a kit and stroking my own motor (no jokes please LOL) or buying a complete short block and building that up.
Can anyone give me links/info regarding the availability of (new) 383 LS1 short blocks please? Thanks in advance.

The sponsers to the right have such good deals on motors these days that you might as well buy it assembled from them. With some kits you have to clearence a few spots on the block to fit the 4.00" stroke. Personally, I'd let the proffesionals do it. They build these things every day. Best thing to do is read up on diffrent sponsors and call a few and see who you like best. I had APE build my shortblock and they did an exceptional job. There are others though, like Futral, Speed inc., MTI, Lingenfelter, Race Tech, Fast tech, Thunder racing, LG motorsports, and so on. The good thing about APE is that they have a "build time". When you order, you get a date that your motor will be done by. If it isn't done by then, your motor is free. I haven't seen anyone else make that promise. So I'd start there.

Thx, I appreciate the feedback. I am trying to get as much info/feedback/hands on info as I can before I make a decision that costs me more then a few car payments
