Default HELP!! ready for heads and cam, need advice!!!!

I've been searching the forums and I feel that I still have no clue on what to narrow my decision on . I am looking for heads/cam that fit these criteria:
1) Lots more power (of course)
2) would work well on a daily driver (although this isn't my daily driver, I would like it to drive like one as much as possible).
3) money doesn't matter, if I'm going to get the h/c I want to be happy regardless of price.

btw.. the car is a 98 ws6 m6 and so far the mods include slp lm, lid, kooks headers & catted y... 338.1 rwhp and 347.6 tq

if anyone can help me out I would be very greatful!!!

good strong setup.....with daily driver capabilities??? from my experience and what i've actually seen in person, cams anywhere from a 224 to 230 duration with lift anywhere from .561 to .600 make good daily driver cams.....combined with a good set of stage 1.5 to stage 2 heads.....will make killer power. and whether or not it will be good for daily driving is all in the tune. also, staying with a mild to semi-large cam like this, u can stick with stock length pushrods and stock rocker arms and still benefit from the power. however, i would get hardened pushrods and definitely stronger valve springs. and the bigger the cam u choose, id definitely consider dual springs. i got a tr224 cam in right now, but when i do my stage 2 heads, im gonna go with a little bigger cam....maybe around a 228 or 230 duration....cant wait to feel that lope

We have an excellent cam grind for good HP, that will still make a good driver, it is a little lopey, but if you love power, you'll like this cam
It's our GT1-1 and the specs are: 229/242 .631/.631 114

This cam will require the comp cam 26921-16 spring kit, which includes dual springs and titanium retainers. If you match this cam with a set of the GMPP CNC ported LS6 heads that we do for GM, and proper tuning, you would have an excellent performance package making approx 500HP at the crank.

All together these parts will cost approx. $3,500.00, or we can do the whole thing for you, turn key for a little over $6K if you like.

Feel free to call or e-mail me if I can be of any help,

Ed

We use a 224/228/114 with out stage II set up and it is doing very well. Numbers vary from 420rwhp to 451rwhp. Head and cam packages are $2599. Do a search on us and you will see we do excellent high quality work. Also, feel free to give us a call. We are not too far from you.

Hi Solobarictahoe,

Yes, this combination would work well on your GTO, It responds best with a set of full length headers, and I'm not aware of anybody making a set for the GTO yet, but you should still see good results. I would also recommend our GTO cold air kit, we've seen about 12HP improvement on stock cars.

Give me a call, or e-mail when you get a chance and I'll help figure out some exact specs for your combination.

Do you have any flow numbers on the GMPP heads? What is the CC volume and compression, and do you need to flycut?
Thanks

These heads are available with either a 62cc or a 60cc chamber, which will give you approx. 11.0-11.3:1 on a stock shortblock. With .631 lift you may have to flycut when you use the milled GM heads, but we normally don't have to when using a standard LS6 casting. The thing is, these GM heads sell for about $1,950.00 outright at any GM dealer, so they are a killer deal!
They flow over 300 CFM at .600" valve lift, so they perform very well too.

E-mail or call me if I can answer any questions for you.

Thanks,
Ed

I would personially stay with a bit smaller cam if you want it to be an easy daily driver car.
You should beable to make 430 easy with a M6 through a 12 bolt with a good tune and using a cam like the 224/228.
BTW I have driver/ rode in 7 cars now with the 224/228 and it is quickly becoming my favorite overall cam.
It pulls hard as hell and with the correct tune you can barely even tell the cam is in there after a few days.

I know that is money isn't a issue I would look into a AFR combo as well.
