Question Cam ?

can any one tell me why it is not possible to run roller lifters with a flat tappet cam. lanati told me they would shave the lobes. is that true? the lifters i have have the webbing between them so they wont spin. actually it is a buddy of mine who wants to know. he is putting the lifters in a 78 t/a 400 bb. he has a 218/490 bracket master lanati cam and crower roller lifters. will they work together, with the cam being a flat tappet cam?
thanks

I think there's a mod on here that's done that before, but I'm not sure who it was. I remember reading about it being a compromise between high-rpm valve float and how many times you have to adjust valve lash. Did you try a search? You might be able to find it

They are too different. The flat tappet cam has the lobes cut at an angle to offset the cam thrust, and to rotate the lifters in the bores. He'd have to run a roller cam and a thrust plate on front of the motor to keep the cam from walking.
