Default I was an idiot...and now im fixing my mistake, need some suggestions

Mistakes in order:
1. Not getting the ported ls6 oil pump for my cam install
2. Not getting a new timing chain (although no issues)
3. Purchasing a cam I thouht i wanted cause i wanted to keep it somewhat "smog legal"...horse ****
4. Not listening to my buddies and goign a step up in my cam selection (although i must thank z28venom for the deal he cut me on the cam ).

Heres the deal, i bought a great cam, 224/228 with a 114 lsa dont remember the lift off the top of my head. Considering its a relatively mild cam i didnt do the oil pump (my 98 had 44k miles on it when i swapped the cam), nor the timing chain. Now my oil pressure at idle drops below the 40 psi mark, and sometimes drops even lower, but at wot luckily it still holds 60 psi strong.

Somehow i got talked into working at my buddies shop and giving upa job at a bank. im tired of the shirts and ties....college has odd effects on us all. So i picked up ap orted oil pump and a double roller timing chain, and ifigured while im in there,i think im ight go with a little bit larger cam.

Any suggestions? I will be heading back to a true dual set up cause i miss it too damn muchand the more i hear the sweet thunder mufflers the more i drool and miss it. So ill be doing an h pipe with sweet chambers to side exits (stealthy set up w/out tips im thinking). Probably including cats as well.

Has anyone ever made it to the 400 rwhp mark with the ls1 intake? I will only have the ls1 intake till the summer when i can finally get my hands on the lsx (which is what im waiting for over teh ls6).

Cam suggestions? The car is a semi daily driver. i dont hit up the track much i just like myw eekend sunny rides to be as fun as possible. oh and the funds for the 9 inch rear end are already.

help!

lots of people like the fm13.FMS Custom Grind Camshaft - 230"/232" .595"/.585" 112LSA - aggressive profile with a 2500-6800 RPM range. i personally am going with the fm14 232-234. not huge by any means but a step up over your cam

Texas Speed 233/239. Since, you know, it's a semi=daily driver

I agree. Either the TSP 233/239 of 231/237. Get that oil pump in there along with the timing chain so you don't run into more problems down the road. The ported LS6 pump will give you a lot of pressure.

i see nothing wrong with your current cam and from what you've stated it seems to fit the bill.

i like the 233/239, i think it will outdo the 231/237. the 4 im considering are the tsp 233/239 the f13,f14 or f9.

it did at one point but it was because i had to fit into a budget and z28venom hooked me up with that. plus i thought i needed to stay emissions legal...now i have a car that will do that (i have a crx as my daily driver) and as a plus im now wokring part time at a shop with my buddy...so a cam install could be done relatively quickly with the two of us going at it.

JRP you use the tr230? im interested in that cam as well.

im in the process of making my true duals just waiting on the mufflers so i can start test fitting and put them on , but i want a bigger cam that is going to be heard in the next town over from me when i start up my car.

Thanks for the input fellas.
for those of you with the 231/237 or a similar cam...what are some of the complaints you've had with the cam?

Complains with the 231/237 = none. The cam is great with computer tuning. I was driving my car in 30* temps here in Texas today (in the snow) and the car drive great. It also drives great in the dead heat of the Texas summer.

The lobes aren't as steep as XE-R, so at .598/.595 it's not that hard on the valvetrain for daily use. It pulls hard up to 7k RPMs, but I shift at 6500. I also hear that this cam loves n2o so I might just spray it. It's also not unherad of to pull 450rwhp/400tq with a set of stage II heads and all of the other boltons.

So all around, the 231/237 is a great cam for a daily driver who wants something more than the 224/224 cams, but not quite as much as say a T-rex. My choice was between the G5x3 and the 231/237, and I got the 231 because of the softer lobes.
