Torquer cam on stock tune?
how's this bad boy gonna handle on a stock tune? it might be a few weeks before i have enough money to get her tuned, and i REALLY dont wanna wait to install it. anyone have any experiance? I've heard mail in tunes arent nearly as good as a shop tune, so should i opt for one?

I'd hold off and get a tune by a good shop or someone local with HPT that knows his stuff. I ran my Torquer on stock tune for about two weeks. It was beastly at times, but it got me around. Like any big cam, hot starts are going to be a bitch, and it's going to hunt for idle and stall out at times in neutral, especially at low speeds. The key to getting the Torquer to run on stock tuning, like any other big cam, is adjusting the TB set screw to let in more air at idle. Without this, my car was not drivable, as it would die almost every time I put it in neutral and didn't keep the gas pedal pushed in a little. With adjusting the set screw, I got it to the point that it would still hunt for idle, but almost never stall out. Good luck!

IMO, to change a cam without tuning should never be done. (especialy big cams)
You'll hurt the motor (over rich or worse too lean).
The problem is that a lot of us are so impatient to get more power, that we sometimes forget that it has to be done right.

Jasons mail order tune WORKS excellent. TSP tune.
Installed 232/232, .595 lift,113+2 in a 1998 a4 WS6 with stock converter and the car was undriveable, almost. Sent computer to Jason, got it back in 2 days, and I'm in Wisconsin. Car started instantly, found idle, and ran great. Shifting was also vastly improved. I'm sure a custom tune would possibly be better but know one around here does them. Just my .02.

well, i have rev xtreme about 30 mins away and they are a very good shop, so i dont wanna spend 200 on a tune then get another one from them. can jason customize the tune, like delete rear o2's, air, etc? and tune it for the mods you have?

Yes, Jason can.
You send him a list of what your set-up is and he programs whatever is necessary. Mine is o2 delete,TQ management delete, fan temp changed,ETC. Basically the same as a custom tune, only without the dyno or AFR. Mine works awesome. Also A.I.R and EGR delete.
