comp r lifter issue
i used the comp r lifter for my rebuild, and set the preload according to comp cams on hot settings, no more than a 1/16th of a turn, they told me they would chatter too. but the werdiest thing is, when the car has been sitting for awhile and i start it up, you cant hear a peep out of them, they are qiet and you can here my cam loping, but when the car starts warming up then they start chattering, what would make them quiet on cold starts and start chattering when they are warm

Sounds like everything is expanding and loosening up...
I would try the recommended .008-.010 preload cold and see if that makes a difference..thats about 1/5 of a turn...but measuring is better.

Did you remove the cosmolene from the lifters with mineral spirits and soak them in oil before the install?

i'll try it and see, this will be the 4th time i have adjusted these, i have gone from 1/2 a turn, 1/8, and 1/16, and 1/16 queiten it the most, but its worth a shot to see what 1/5 of a turn will do., is it possible why it is quieter on cold starts because the oil sits there and thickens up

If this is a newly-rebuilt engine, with no runtime since the build, you're actually troubleshooting more than just the Comp lifters.
If that's the case, and the rebuild has only been run w/ the Comps, they're not likely the problem given that it's not responding to all the variations in preload you've tried.
So...how does your oil pressure look when it's at op temp and ticking? How comfy are you that the oil pump o-ring is righteous?
