Amsoil European Formula 5W-40 and the long K&N for now (actually i am running the Castrol German 0-30 for the winter months but will go back to the 5-40 the next oil change)... Will be switching to the long Amsoil now that I have used all of my K&N's up.

Stock size Mobil1 1 oil filter
recently switched to Mobile 1 0W40 before storing for winter . Trying this vs the Mobil 1 5W30 I was using and burning (1-2qts everyt 3k miles). I figure a thicker oil will reduce my problem

will see how it does starting April 1st or whenver roads are clean again

I'm pretty sure you'll be happy. I'd been running Amsoil 5W-30 in my 4.8L Silverado engine for two years, had some lifter clatter at operating temp idle the whole time, it's gone now using GC...same Hastings filters.
