Dude just go with the GT2-3 cam. I got it and made 370rwhp through cats. I'm taking it out this month to go bigger cause I have another car I drive everyday. Its a awesome cam and pulls hard and smooth. Idles better than stock being on a 118.5lsa. This is a great everyday driver cam the has no lope and no tuning issues.

Thanks for all the input guys. I believe I have made my decision. I am going to go with a TR220 .551/.551 112LSA cam. Like I said I would rather go a little small than too big. My car is going to feel way different with the headers and intake anyways.

I am picking this over the gt2-3 as I understand I will get more power throughout the power band, especially down low due to the 112LSA.

I know the gt2-3 has a nice idle but does not really gain any power untill over 4-5k.

I do not want the TR224 as I think this will be just a little too much for my taste. I want more power in the lower rpm's and the 220@112 will do that better than the 224@114

I plan on getting the comp 918 springs, hardened push rods, new timing chain(ls2?) and upgrading the oilpump to an LS6 pump.

I am basing my decision on the help I got here and my discussions with three vendors that carry cams. I also heard from someone that has this cam.

If I end up with 350-360RWHP I will be happy(for now).

I will probably go through the whole motor after this summer or next. Then ls6 heads, who knows??

Sound like a good plan??

The narrow LSA will do exactly the *opposite* of what you propose. A 112LSA will move the powerband UP the rpm range, the 114 will move it lower. Actually, a 224 @ 114 would have a very similar band to a 220@112, excepting I would say the 224@114 would probably have the wider torque/power band. The 112 results in more valve overlap (the amount of time that both intake and exhaust valves are open) which means you must have more throttle to overcome it.

You want a big, wide band? Go the Comp Extreme 218/224 @ 114. An aftermarket ported oil pump would be superior to the LS6 pump. The 918s are alright. Do the Rollmaster double-roller timing chain. A double-roller isn't just twice as strong as a single, it's multiple times more durable.

Listen to SSINFUL. a 112° LSA will shake like crazy. The HotCam is on a 112° (218/228) and it'll make your V8 shake like a 45° twin. Get at least a 114° LSA, if not more.

Actually he was right. The 112 will get into the power band quicker then the 114.
