well i want to go ahead and put some good stuff in there if i have it apart, i dont mind spendin a few dollars to have a good valvetrain in the thing.

i think i'm going to look into new springs, seats, seals, ti retainers, and hardened pushrods. i should be good to rev it w/out as much worry

I don't see how it bent that bad without screwing anything else up. Mine was bent when I did my cam swap and it was only slightly bent.

it did a little work on the hole in the head that the pushrod drops into as well, turned it from an o to a 0, but it should be fine. i'm pulling the rest of 'em out today and i'll see waht they look like. none of them arethat back because they are sitting in their holes straight.

listen to what people are saying.....why run hardened pushrods on a stock motor? thats cool that you want higher quality gear, but i wouldn't go through all that trouble w/a stock setup. if you plan a cam any time soon, just do it then......

I agree. Hardened pushrods are good for somebody pushing the limit and extra cash. But for a street-driven vehicle, use the soft stock ones. I kept them...just in case I miss a shift... I would put in hardened if I had an A4 though.

i am listening, this is why i plan on upgrading the rest of the valvetrain, as well as the pushrods. i do plan on putting a bigger cam in it after a while, but i have traction problems as it is, and anymore power now would make 1st gear, and especially the 1-2 shift down right DANGEROUS. i need to get my nittos and rear end in order before i put a cam in it, but i do plan on doing it in the future.

i need to upgrade the spings in my pro 5.0 to help prevent the 3-2 shift from happening again, and i just need to be more careful... even though it is hard to be carefull with some guy at your door

on the other hand, stock springs and new stock pushrods are looking alot better now that i think about the money i need to spend on wheels/tires and rear end where can you order STOCK pushrods from besides the stealership? i'm guessing SDPC or somebody has them. i've got plenty of cash for the valvetrain stuff *right now lol*, but i just have alot of options i guess.

thanks for reading my threads and throwing in your .02 guys, i really appreciate it, casey

anytime casey...i just know i'd hate to throw in new hardened PR's only to miss shift and kiss a valve needlessly.

like i said....hit up some of the sponsers, they may have a few extra stock ones layin around.

Well, theres not much to take apart to get to your pushrods. Takes about 5 mintues...

Everyones comments in this post has made me laugh! Its a trip!
Seriously though, you could just put some stock pushrods back in and later on after you get some better springs and pr's, pop that valve cover back off and put them on. Its no biggie!

Good luck

well i've got all the rest of the rockers/pushrods off and they are all perfect. i figured i would have at least one or two more that were even SLIGHTLY bent, guess this was the only one thats tweaked.

i'm going to go ahead and get some new stockers, put 'em back in and work on my shifting i can tell my mom that excessive wheelspin caused this, and thats why i need those torque thrust II's and 315 nittos

btw - 1/4" drive air ratchets ROCK under the hood of an f-body. i had the INDIVIDUAL coil packs/valve covers off in like 15 minutes on the passenger side. after i unplugged the main harness connector for the coilpacks (not individual wires or the plug wires), i just unbolted them and set them down beside the header, everything was out of the way and it wont run away i've tried to pimp these air ratchets on here before, but i just cant say enough good about them!!

i did pull the others, like i said in post 31. i drew out a grid on some cardboard and kept them all organized as to intake/exhaust, and what cylinder they came from.

every one of them is straight as an arrow, maby the #7 intake valve ,where that bent pushrod came from, is a just little sticker than the rest?

it seems to have extended the hole that the pushrod drops into in the head toward about 7 oclock by about 1/4". will it be safe to put a new pushrod in this hole? i'm guessing the lifter and the rocker will hold it in place and this hole being a little "extended".

i guess this explains my ticking noise
its hard to tell if its bent or not in that pic ... maybe try and use a straight edge to check it for straightness

Dip it in that Dr. Pepper there. It will be like a fry out of hot grease. Then you can bend it back straight. Go stick it into the oven to harden it back. I get so tired of repeating this to everyone that bends a pushrod!
