Talking is this pushrod bent? *pic*

tell me what you guys think??

from the #7 cylinder intake valve

it seems to have extended the hole that the pushrod drops into in the head toward about 7 oclock by about 1/4". will it be safe to put a new pushrod in this hole? i'm guessing the lifter and the rocker will hold it in place and this hole being a little "extended".

i guess this explains my ticking noise

looks fine to me.

What the hell did you do to cause that? The dreaded 2-3 misshift into 1st? Ive been lucky. Ive made some of those misshifts but only when driving real slow in traffic. Accidently shifting into 1st at 20mph. oops

Beh, I wouldn't worry about that too much. Just buy some new pushrods, swap them out (or just the bent one if they're the same kind) and move on. I had one pushrod look something like that (not as bad though) when I did my cam swap. It also nicked the hole in the head a little too, but I just put in the new pushrods, closed her up and she's been running fine since.

TSP, Thunder, Speed Inc, HPE, a hardened pushrod is a hardened pushrod as far as im concerned. Go with the cheapest ones.

If youre not running a cam, hardened pushrods are kinda pointless. Cuz if you had hardened pushrods when you missed the shift you would have bent the valve instead. Causing a lot more damage.

Maybe you can bend it back . . . just put your car in reverse and floor it

I agree. Put it in a vice, and latch on to one of the tips with some vice-grips, and yank the heck out of it. It'll be fine.

Do not run hardened pushrods in a stock motor. If you ever do another misshift you will seriously **** some **** up.

Nice work BTW. I've bent many a pushrods in my day....

my dick is staighter than that and I have one hell of a hook.

my friend bends his [push rod for you preverts] about every 2 weeks and keeps using my old ones to fix it. i swear his rev limiter doesnt work. ive seen him rev it over 7000 rpms and his bottom end is stock . i guess he'll never learn till one of those rods come flying out of the block

can i put some dual valvesprings, titanium retainers etc, in right now and run the hardened pushrods and dual valvesprings with a stock cam? i was going to put in duals when i did my cam (in the future), but would it be ok now?

would it be ok to put in all the stuff as if i was putting in a bigger cam, and run with the stock cam for now?

what exactly is it that causes the pushrods to bend? is it really bad valve float or what? i did the dreaded 3rd to 2nd shift instead of 4th i always forget to turn my hand toward the inside when i'm trying to hit 4th gear.

sorry for all my questions, but thanks for reading my posts!

It bent due to excessive RPM causeing valve float. If you upgrade the pushrods the next time it happens you will break a valve. I would install upgraded springs at the same time then you won't have to worry about valve float
