What Cam For Stock Ls1 What Cam Could I Use For A Stock Internal Ls1 With Stock Heads, Intake, And Longtubes. It Has Your Basic Bolt Ons. The Car Has A 6speed And I Installed 4.10 Gears

im also looking to put a cam in my stock ls1 with stock heads.looking at the hotcam. still want the car to be reliable. what do you guys suggest? (i dont really know too much about cams at all, so if you guys could give me some pointers or show me where to look and point me in the right direction that would be a huge help.)

don't waste you money on a hot cam. You can get a much better cam

The only thing you absolutely have to have with a cam is the appropiate springs, with a good PCM tune being a close second. But many other things are nice, here's a list in the order of importance IMO:
With Cam

timing chain
pcm tune
headers & catback
valve stem seals
rocker arms
oil pump
pulley
differential gears
lifters (inspect and replace if necessary)
ported throttle body
ported heads
heads milled for higher compression

heres the thing you guys keep saying, the hotcam isnt that great, much better cams out there with no drawbacks, worrying about the springs to me is a major drawback, i see hotcam cars in the 370 and 380 range all the time and they dont have to worry about springs, then i see guys with bigger cams, hitting like 400 or so, and having to worry about springs. I was gonna maybe get a 224 cam, but on here sounds like you have to check the springs often even on that cam and thats a mild cam.

No matter what cam or spring you have, if you rev it past 6200RPM you will ALWAYS need to check them periodically. I busted a dual spring on the stock cam.
And no matter how good the spring, revving over 6000RPM causes massive heat buildup in the springs themselves. Deterioration is inevitable.
