super high RPM hydrolic cam
I'm toying with the idea of going for the cam only record (10.99 now right?). What kinda cam would I need for super high RPM action? I'm thinking something like a 232/232 114ls. Any other ideas? Narrow power band is OK.

Who set that record for the fastest cam only car. What was the race weight on it <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

You plan on running an aftermarket piston, or are you going to keep this strictly a bolt-on type application?
If I were you I'd run an aftermarket piston, something pretty high compression, and a shorter rod (not MUCH shorter, just a few thousandths of an inch). Then I'd make sure the heads would be able to flow what the cam needed, and then run a Comp-R lifter and rev it to 7500/7600.
Don't go the solid roller route unless you know what you're doing. You can slow your car down substantially.

I'd love to get the CR up but I think that's "cheating". I don't think any cam in an LS1 with stock heads is going to make power to 7600, not even a solid roller, but 7200 seems possible. Down the road I might add ported 5.3 heads with light weight LS6 valves.

Re: super high RPM hydrolic cam
If you are going with a G5X2, just get a comp XE-R 232/240 on a 114 with like 2-4 degrees of advance. The G5X2 has like 7 or more degrees of advance ground in per LGs specs.

Re: super high RPM hydrolic cam
Extend your powerband by increasing duration, not by widening LSA. I think for a record on stock headed car, the LSA will be narrow.
