Ok,I just read this whole thread. The Cam does sound real good, but where are the dyno and track times I personally would not want a Cam that lopes like that if it can't back it up.So let's see some performance gains

I'm guessing that with its increased duration this cam make about 360-380 rwhp with ported stock or S1 heads. Am I guessing or hoping? I hope i'm guessing because I want more hp out of this cam before I think of getting it.

Dan

If your main goal is HP then go with one of the proven bigger cams. The main reason I personaly want this cam is I should make about 380 Hp with out having to change springs on a regular baisis. My main goal is not drag racing etheir. It should make killer power under the curve and with a set of 4.10 gears it will be an awsome Street car in a M6; and great on a roadrace track . Remember GM built this cam for roadracing on stock heads. So if you want the most HP go with one of the huge cams with a big lift. I just sold my TR230 because for me the extra 15 to 20 hp is not worth me stressing on my springs going south. So basicaly I think if the rest of the car is set up right it will back it up. But on the drag strip there are much better cams.
As far as actual dyno #'s I will be posting what I put hopefully next month with QTP headers and mods below. If I have anywhere between 370 and 390 I will be pleased.

Then I wouldn't mind using this cam for patrol then. Most of my driving is in the city anyway and this cam would do wonders there. Right now with the cam I have now, most of my power is at top with some mid-range. Great for getting me twelves at the track all day long.

I'm working on it. I haven't gotten home early enough to do it. I can't rev it up at night anymore, I'm afraid my neighbors are gonna revolt and burn my car when I'm not home. I'll do it during the day this weekend.

rtss, do you think its worth the jump from .525 to .572 with the rockers on stock heads.
Would this be the jump from 1.7 to 1.8? .572 is higher than I'd like to go, but I 'do' have REV 1116 springs. Just like many others, I don't want to change out springs all the time, so I don't want a really high lift cam. I have a T1 now with .558 lift which is obviously lower, but the T1 should have a more aggressive ramp rate than the ASA cam, correct? I guess the wear rates for springs on both cams would be about the same. Seems like going with 1.8 rockers would be a good way to increase power on the top end with this cam. Sure is tempting to get this cam and dump my T1 since I'd really like to have that low/midrange power.

Here is ss383camaro's soundclip of the ASA cam at idle. I dont know the exhaust setup, so maybe he can chime in and let us know. This thing definitely does not sound stock. ASA clip
This is a cam one should consider for playing on the street. I want one for work. I think I could still run over 100 mph for car chases once I get on the freeway, but in city streets, I could use the mid-range torque.

Years ago, I used a cam similar to the ASA. With these specs, it should thoroughly increase the RATE at which horsepower is delivered. The idle does impress as the feeling of the ground a shakin' overpowers the rate at which my ears were a ringin'!
About 45 minutes to an hour was the limit in this vehicle. After exiting vehicle, I'd be vibrating for about thirty minutes and needed to let the ol' nervous system idle back to normal. Despite this, it was always exciting to contemplate the next "ride".
One major advantage with today's computer fuel management is the greatly increased mileage. A side by side mileage comparison is making me reconsider a cam of this type. Hmmm, let's see...carb maximum mpg is 6-10. EFI mpg might be anywhere from 12-24.
Have fun, everyone!!!

You can't download it because the file is named incorrectly on the server. If you browse to http://www-scf.usc.edu/~chutchin/ls1/, then right-click and save the file which has the extension of ".wa" instead of ".wav". Onced saved, change the extension to a .wav and you should be all set. Or, someone can fix the spelling

Bada$$, btw!

Actually I renamed it since I thought everyone had DLed it and was going to delete it soon since I didnt want to use the memory up anymore, especially since this link was being spread to additional forums. Since some are still looking for it I will keep it hosted to the correct link.

I got it to work! That **** is bad ***! I think I'd like to have that sound with a reverse split cam! Could this be done with stock pistons and non-milled heads? Big duration, mild lift, with a 110° LSA with a 108° IC (2° advance ground in).
How big can we go with duration and mild lift (i.e. .558" max)??
That just sounds too damn nice !
