Camshaft Swap Complete!!! Thoughts inside!
Well me and John Weeks (John02SS) decided to do a cam swap on my 81K mile 2000 Z28. Picked up a 230/230 589/589 from Rich, on this board, for an AMAZINGLY low price. Well we put it in last night, as well as the LS6 valley cover, 918 springs, titanium retainers, new valve seals, TR pushrods, and a new 160 tstat. Cam swap went VERY smoothly. John is one helluva mechanic! We finished around 10pm last night and cranked her up. She idled VERY well, considering, on a stock tune. After letting it run for a few minutes, i changed the oil while john put a custom tune in the car, and so we set out. And let me say....OH MY GOD. Should have done a cam a long time ago. The car was always a strong car, but this is just NASTY. Hoping to do around 400 hp, considering the higher mileage! Car will be dynoed in about 3 weeks, and then we can work on the final tune. And to add, the driveability is GREAT. TINY TINY buck around 1500 in 5th gear! Wanna say thanks again john, that tune was the best 200 bucks iv ever spent!!!
Anybody running a similar combo? what kind of numbers did u put down, track and dyno. Thanks fellas!

Congratulations!
I have a similiar cam and will be taking my car to the Dyno in a few weeks. Hopefully I will see some good numbers! The local track will be re-opening in a month so I will have track times as well.

I got a similar setup with similar miles. Bought the cam used with a 2001 intake and got some new 918's. The cam is an old Morgan Motorsports grind. I changed the cam at 65k miles and now its up to 84k. Reused the timing chain, oil pump, and pushrods. No problems so far. Im gonna upgrade the pushrods when I change the springs though.
I havent had a chance to get a tune. Times with stock rev limiter. It seems to run ok but the rev limiter is in the way. I plan on spraying it with a 200hp dry shot after I get the HPTuners software and necessary fuel upgrades.
What lsa does your cam have?
Oh yeah I almost forgot. This cam also pulls hard in 4th gear. I hate to having to lift at the end of the quarter. Its still pulling strong.

Those times are with the stock rev limiter?? Not bad at all! I have been shifting mine at 6400 or so, but will shift around 6700 when i am really getting on it! Supposed to be some racing....so we will see!

Yeah, Im surprised it runs as well as it does with the stock tune and limiter. This cam supposedly likes to rev. The icl is 111 degrees compared to the 108 that fms and tr cams seem to run. People who used to run this cam usually shifted around 7k. Im curious how much the mph will pick up with higher shift points and some gears. Id like to get over 120mph.
