Heads From 346 Going On 402
Right now I am running some nice cnc'd and hand finished 853 casting heads and am considering purchasing a 402 shortblock from sdpc and am wondering what it takes to enlarge the bore on the combustion chambers to match the 402? Is it a lot of work or a little? Should I just get a 383 short block and not have to worry about the heads? Would it be very beneficial to throw in new valve seats and larger valves since there is more room from the larger bore? That just means a lot more money though and I would like to keep the costs down in any way I can like only open up the bore and use the valves I am running right now which are 2.02 and 1.6. I will be running FI also so the valve size probibly is not as important with FI right? Just trying to decide 402 or 383 as the sdpc 402 is priced just right at 3999.00 not much more than a 383. Thanks for any input.

For what it is worth, I have a 6.0L with stock LS6 heads bolted right on to it. I researched what it would be worth radiusing the chambers and most said maybe 5 HP. I had trouble finding anyone to do it in a hurry (we were swapping shortblocks in one or two days) so I skipped it. I would guess the higher in the power levels you go, the more it is worth, but I don't know for sure. I do know I am real happy with the power my motor makes considering what it is.
