Theres about a half dozen guys doing it on Comp Rs or similair. your average bumpkin will break something though thats for sure. Actually I know of some stock lifter hyd setups been 7200-7400

You right its a fine balance between spring pressures, lifters, rocker/valvetrain setup to do it.

I'm sure you can do it but for how long. Also, you are probably giving up power running hydraulics that high verses a solid. I know Hawkn01 did it but look what happened, Kaboom. I believe he said his saw 7600 and considering Joe O was working on it I wouldn't call it a bumpkin setup.

I think Fireball has about 80 passes on his above 7000. Rodney wings his motor, and Angies car was turning high 7000s

We took a hyd to 8300 rpm and back to test some windage issues, under load and somehow it survived.

upper rpm stability though is solid lifter land for most. you gonna do it?

can you spin a 408 just like a 347 or lower since its a stroker, with a eagle crank and callies rods?

and for n/a and a turbo 400 with regular gears installed, what gear would you get in a 12 bolt?? 4.30's with a 28" tire or so?? or could 26" work until you got some 28" like im prob gonna have to do!! lol

becuase in the 12 bolt im getting, cant decide between 4.10's or 4.30's since i wont have o/d but i wont drive on the street that much.. thanks for any opinions or thoughts!!

the crank and rods will be fine, it is the lifters and spring pressures that cause issues on a hyd. setup spun above 7000 rpms. the spring pressure needed to avoid valve float atthose rpms are not good for hyd. lifters and can cause them to collapse, causing much ugliness.
I was looking at going solid roller on my setup but to setup LS1/LS6 heads for a solid spring is...well... a bit of a pain, not impossible just annoying. Of couse the AFR's make that a lot easier, but until the 225's w/ 62cc I plan to stick with what I already have setup, a set of LS6 Stage 3's that flow mad crazy. Of couse if a customer wahts a set of heads setup for solid roller we can and will do it

As far as your gearing you sort of need to know what your goals for the track are; say your max rpm is 7000, your tire size is 28" and you would like to hit 150mph at the traps. then you want a 3.90 gear based on a 1:1 ratio in the transmission and no over drive
fool around with this some

you will probably want to stick with 4.10's
