Default OK, cam swap & add ons advice...

For those with experience...

I have ordered the TR 224/224 .563 @ 114 LSA cam, with the TR cam pkg, 918's etc, rods, etc....

I have also ordered Katech LS6 ported oil pump & LS2 timing chain.

I do NOT desire to do a pulley or an electric water pump or heads at this time...

Is there anything else that is recommended??
(Car is full bolt ons)
Thanks....

You will need a pulley bolt; stock one is not reuseable. How about some titanium spring retainers? Or some aftermarket rockers? The stock rockers are known for slinging their needle bearings, even without the added load of aftermarket valve springs. You will need some kind of spring compression tool also. Any cam will work better with headers!

BTW, that's the same exact cam I just took out of my engine; are you sure you don't want something in the 230 range?

Why don't you want to do the pulley? No install charge if your doing it with the cam. If you decide to do it later it's going to cost you.

Yea, I know... But, I drive to & from the track, and I have a big time stereo system, and I ALWAYS use the A/C, so thats why I'm kinda leery of doing the pulley...

might as well do the 160 degree thermostat

I just had the TR 224 LSA114 installed. you have to listen for the cam to hear it.

Have it dude..

Got ALL the bolt on stuff...

I was thinking more of the stuff related in the actual cam swap, stuff that wouldn't normally be easily accessed..

I guess other than the chain & oil pump, the only things are the pully & water pump which as I said earlier I'm not gonna do..

Thanks all for the posts..
Looks like I'm all set..

watch out for the oil pump O-ring(for the sump). good idea to get a new one b/c if it tears then you have to tear into the front of the motor again.

Yep, got a pack of 5 O-rings...

Ordered the LS6 pump from Katech. Its just ported, NOT shimmed...

And yea, no pulley or electric water pump.

Can't wait for my shop to do the install.

Buick Grand National World Drag Race Champion, Dale Cherry, of Berrell Auto in Abington PA is doing the install, with dyno tuning by Bryan Herter of PCM for Less.

You could still get the pulley, just get an overdrive alternator pulley with it.
Make sure you put a new o-ring in that pick-up tube.
