even with the tune i dont see you picking up the soggy bottom end. i personally use 350rwtq as a benchmark and most cam only cars hit that in the 3000 - 3500 rpm range. as is you dont hit that until over 4500. great if your only concern is top end power and you never see anything under 4500, not great for the street. with tune, pulley, and TB i highly doubt you'll pick up the 40-70rwtq needed in the 3k range.

wow... so u really need about 350rwtq at 3500 rpm to be driveable? or streetable??? is this what ur saying.. also are u saying it doesn't look like the 233/239 did to well here even with it being so lean. ur saying the tq will be low regardless... if this is what u meant, then what cam with a good tune is a given to make 350rwtq b/t 3000 and 3500 and still have pretty good #'s.. i thought this was the one.

someone like me whos looking for good lowend tq and decent peak hp was considering this cam for use on the street and strip.. maybe this isn't such a great cam for me then.. i mean i drive my car atleast once or twice a week and when i get the cam i intend to drive it 3-4 days a week. guess i best look elsewhere

though, ohter tsp 233/239 graphs made "GREAT" tq down low... so id like to here why u think he wont make more tq with the tune and added mods? in other words, give more of an explanation.

no, im not saying you need 350rwtq at any RPM to be driveable. what im saying its what i use as a bench mark to judge tq curves. like i said, someone who's concerned with only the 1/4 it doesnt matter to them because they never see anything below 4500. just look at Smoking01Ta, if i remember right he doesnt hit 350rwtq until ~4k but he's in the 10's and his application is setup right. for the guy who cares about streetability and just cruising around tq low/mid tq is key. why do you think strokers are so great for the street, they've got huge tq curve.

yes, im saying the tq will be low regardless, but he'll make great HP, no doubt over 400rwhp. of course you can make up from a lack of lowend through steeper gears.

i'd look else where if i were you, everybody is so gung ho on all these new cams but i still think the tr224 112 is bar none for an street with limited strip car.

man!, u make some good good points.. but i kinda think i may just wind up with the old tried and true F13 from futral now... seems its ever bit as streetable as teh 224/224 and is a lil bigger..!

however ur right about stroker motors lol, thats for sure...

btw, my car more of a strip car that sees teh street, rather then a street car that sees the strip.. strip comes first if drivability has to suffer a lil thats fine.

Looks like everyone is here is giving good advice in suggesting the right direction to go with the AFR. I would expect with your cam duration #'s that you have some low RPM blowdown. Big cams like lots of fuel down low, which is exactly what your chart is showing.

To compensate for this bottom end hole, your may want to experiment and go as low as 11.5/1 AF ratio from 1500-2200 rpms then gradually come back to the suggested 13/1 AFR

Also because of the knee in your tq and power curve down low. One more thought is to add timing a little at a time until pre-ignition, starting around 2000 to 4500 (or until just before max torque #'s) and then back off from there to redline.

All this advice out here should add some noticeable power increases accross the whole power band.

Good luck and happy snake hunting!

One more thing to remember, you will be even leaner on the street than on the dyno. If you really had audible ping on the dyno, then you had KR as well which would hurt performance by pulling timing out. I would be hard pressed to drive the car at all regardless of RPM IMO till it's fixed. You should have, or find someone to A-tap to log data, it's essential when doing mods like this...

It's a 224/.581/112 cam. I was down like 30hp that day for some reason. Going with new plugs and wires, then try my new tune again. I've got a couple of EFI liscenses coming, if you want to go that route.

I agree and wanted to add fueling needs at torque peak is directly needed to match volumetric efficiency peak. As motor passes this point fuel requirements diminish because airflow into cylinder diminishes also.

i have heard that some people say that underdrivepulleys unbalance your motor? i got a 233/239 installing it soon. i hope my torque isn't that low i expected to get good torque and top end power.

I dont know if thats true about pulleys but if they are not neutral balanced then they will unbalance motor. I can tell you balancers should fit crank extremely tight to work well and the larger the balancer the better it neutralizes harmonics.

Did you ever dyno your car before this dyno? Did you do any leak down or comp tests?
It does sound like you timing may be were low at lower rpms.
Timing is root of all your power.

I never dynoed before these mods nor have I done any leakdown or comp tests. I have used this dyno before on a relatively stock '98 TA so I know the HP numbers are up BIG time but not the torque.

I haven't decided yet to dyno tune or not. PCMforless claims they can fix the tune w/ the dyno graph I send them but I know I would get max results w/ a dyno tune. It's hard to not do PCMforless again b/c I'm still w/in the free updates time period.

While you still have the free update, send the dyno graph and all the data back to PCMFORLESS. Like anywhere else, all you get is a blind tune, which can be good or not so good depending on how much experience the tuner has with cammed LS1's. But if they see the results, they can fix it about as well as a dyno tune.
