Floyd, any of the high end guys. You may want to contact JE or a JE retailer and get a quote ona set of Carrillo's and JE pistons.. They are both owned by the same people.

Oliver and Lentz make them in steel. GRP will do them in aluminum and titanium. I stock the Olivers in 6.300 long .927 pin.

Does anyone make these off-the-shelf for an LS1? They are common for SBC and other circle track engines. There is also a 1.78 journal. BMW possibly.

Now most SBCs with these have a 3.335 stroke, some have a 3.25, and I don't know any above 3.48/3.50. So there may be some LS1 issues with 3.622 and greater strokes.

Since they aren't off the shelf, you may need to have them custom make by Crower or Carillo. I don't know of Dyers or Pauter makes them custom. In any event, you would need someone whose CNC program actually sized the rod for that size, instead of just making the hole smaller. (making the whole smaller not just the hole).

The difference is significant but not that significant. You may not notice the difference unless you were in a very competitive racing class. The difference is like 20 or so grams/rod plus some off the crank.

With that rod length, would that be for a 3.2x" stroke to make a 5 litre LS6?
The class race in has a weight break for 5.1 litres and below, and I see the Daytona prototypes are running 5 litres as well.

Thanks!

I would imagine that with the right piston you could put that rod on the stock crank or the smaller 3.25" crank. Just think that most of the stroker 4.00" cranks use pistons that will accept a 6.125" rod. The stock crank throw is .378" smaller. Cut that difference inhalf to account for TDC and BDC, and you have .189". Add that to the common 6.125" rod and you get 6.314" .

Now, will it clear the cam journals and bottom of the cylinder bores??
