How to get dropped lifters (2) out of oil pan?
Buddy dropped two lifters down in the oil pan, can't get a magnet in there to get them out, suggestions? How high does the motor need to be jacked up to drop the oil pan (stock k-member)? Any other suggestions?
Thanks, Shawn

Can you snake a magnet through the cam bearing then down into the pan?
Otherwise drop the pan. You might be able to drop it enough without removing the k-member just enough to get a magnet in there.

No, not 100% sure. I've tried running a magnet through the lifter bores, and can't feel anything "loose". How would I be able to get them out even if they were on top of the crank? Would never be able to get them lined up and back through the lifter bores......

I understand that but, taking off the oil pan would be waste of time also. I've dropped one before and it landed on the crank. cyclinder #6. I was ready to take the oil pan off. I looked at a couple of internal diagrams and realized it probably never made it to the pan. I took a large pen magnet(like 3/4" around) and fished it in the hole above the cam..got the depth and angle that would be right with where it should have fallen and I heard "tink"....I got that bastard!...worth a try...

It more than likely never made to the pan because of the windage tray is from #3 cylinder back. If it were me and I was going to remove the pan and I had access to a cherry picker I would pick the engine up off the K-member enough for the pan to clear. If it went all the way to the windage tray you would have heard a distinct sound because it is pretty thin. Good Luck!
