Question lots of black smoke coming from exhaust after broken valve spring?

On my friends car he had heads and cam and one of the rev dual springs broke. He drove the car around for a lil while after. So he thought it was a lifter and ended up putting the stock heads and cam back in. The car runs pretty good but quite a bit black smoke is coming from his exhaust tips now? What could cause this?

Thanks

Was the car tuned for the H/C? If so the tune is off for the stock H/C. It is running rich.

the car was tuned for the heads/cam and 30lb svo injectors which makes sense why its running so rich. Can he just put some 28lb injectors for the time being till it gets retuned or would it make things worse maybe?

The injector size dosent matter much, it wil still run rich due to increased pulsewidth.
I would fix the heads and put them and the cam back in. If that isnt an option, then he needs to bring it back to the tuner and get it retuned for the stock H/C.
