Is the point that the degreeing wasn't worth the trouble?

many people with ls1 owners do?mti said to put it in dot to dot & forget about it.any extra power is worth it

i know two people that had cams that were advanced too much if installed straight up.one guy found out when he degreed his,and the other guy didn't find out until he had the car put back together and wondered why the car was falling on it's face at around 5700rpms or so.i didn't degree my last cam,but i will the next one.

I am planing on degreeing my cam (as well as checking installed spring height)
I bought a degree kit, but I need some detailed instructions on how to do it. For instance I don't know how to set it up to TDC. I have the tools, but I just don't know how to use them. Same with micrometer....I know it's supposed to be placed in place of spring, but how do I measure the height ???

Just little things I need to research more. I wish I had an instructional video...

I degreed the cam in my 455, but didn't degree the cam in my LS1. Seems to run good so far!
