Question Lifter retaining question.

What size dowel rod can be used to hold the lifters up in an LS1 with the cam out?

for less the 10$(only cost me around 8$ from lowes) you can buy two 3' steel 5/16th inch rods(cut them down to about 3" longer then the cam). pen magnets would cost atleast 2X that.

Thanks, I've done the pen magnet thing several times, and had more than one close call. I really don't like it. If you do have a loose lifter basket I don't like the idea of adding weight to it via a pen magnet.

Thanks again,
Joe

I sanded down one side of the dowel for my driver's side so that it was flat on one side instead of round. It was still a pretty tight fit but it went in. I don't know if it would have fit in if I hadn't sanded that side down.

actully my rods are grinded down like that too, i just put a flat edge on them for the first 8-10 inches or so.
