Default 918 springs

How capable are the Comp Cams 918 beehives?

Are they good enough to handle a 230/236 .590/.598 cam?

I'm thinking they're not quite enough spring, but I'd like to know what the experts think.

Yep. Many folks run them past .600 lift.

Really, Should I worry about high revs? I'm thinking of bumping the rev limiter to 6500.

if you want peace of mind, throw in a set of duals w/ Ti retainers. you can pick up a set of PRC's or PP duals with springs/seats/titanium retainers/seals for around 280$.... but i do believe in overkill

with that limiter, and that cam, i wouldnt put anything even questionably in-capable in there, its just too cheap for some sho-nuff springs.

918's are plenty for your cam and rev limit. My 918's are working very well for my 235/240 .602/.598 cam, and I have the rev limit at 6750 rpm.

WOW! i guess i've been underestimating those badboys! i've been researching hardcore for a new valvetrain setup for the past week or so. i have a lifter thats speaking a little too loud for comfort and i'm going to change out the whole valvetrain (doing a cam this summer). i'm eyeballing the PRC dual kit myself.

The 918's are waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy more spring than you can imagine. Coil bind isn't until .750 or so, and i wouldn't worry about high ramp rates. The 918s are a very very nice spring for the money and can handle most cams on the market today. The only reason i went to a dual spring is for peace of mind and not worrying about broke valvesprings at 7300 rpms.

They would take it, but will the rest of your motor? Also at those rpms i would choose adjustable rockers for 100% proper install.

My friend uses Comps 918s w/ a .605 lift and has had no problems with them. You should be alright with that size lift!!

I have no prob's w/ 918's on a TR224 on the Formula. Had them for about 10k miles and no issues at all. I would put them on the Z06 with a bigger cam with no 2nd thoughts as well!
