500hp N/A

Listen, his goal isn't to be some record breaker of stock blocks. His goal is to make a lot of power N/A.
That's not rocket science.
Get a 402 LS2, AFR 225's, a nice high duration custom cam, LSX 90MM, Big headers, and 3" true duals. That's been done and it's put down the kind of numbers you are looking for.

Well, if all you want to do is be able to say that you have a 500 HP car, then how about 500 at the crank, rather than 500 at the wheels. 500 crank HP is around 425 wheel HP. And 425 wheel HP has been seen on agressive cam only cars here and there. Add a good set of stage 2 heads and 425 is pretty easily attainable. Even 450 RWHP gets brushed up agains on 346 ci heads & cam cars. 475 HP starts looking at some real exotic mods and/or bigger cubes. 500 RWHP just about carries a 4" bore, 4" crank, and giant heads and cam as the price of admission. At these HP levels, each additional HP cost exponentially more than the last. You might spend a few hundred bucks to go from 400 to 425 RWHP with a huge cam swap. You might spend a couple grand to go from 425 to 450 with a sick set of heads. You might spend tens of thousands to go from 450 - 475 buying a 427 shortblock and new cam and heads all over again. And once you get to those power levels, youre also gonna need a 12 bolt or 9" rear which is gonna chew up even more RWHP and set you back.
