Default Heads???

What heads should I puschase AFR or GTP?? I have read almost every post and am confused between the two since they seem to be the best and most talked about. I am looking for 450rwhp that will be streetable since that is where my car will see the most action. I will also drag a couple times a year and autox. I am leaning towards the new thunder racing 230/236 or the TSP 233/239 cam. I will also have full compliment of bolt on's....so which one would you guys suggest??
Thanks

I was very close to getting some PP 5.3's, b/c of the cost, but after doing a bunch of searching, and asking questions, I decided to save up some more and go with the AFR's. Do your research, and you'll see.

The Patriot heads are retarded. All of the porting are extremelly sloppy and I'm not a fan of the welds in the chamber. They are a prime example of you get what you pay for. Save your money and get it right the first time. If I were you get the AFR's. Very impressive head.

say what you will about the patriot heads, but they make power, it seems a cam is cheaper and gets you more power than just heads from what i see. I see people making like 400rwhp wiht just a cam and the avg head and cam car is like 420rwhp if your lucky. so 2300 for 20rwhp?

Both are quality heads. I have a friend John on here Speedracer, he's running the GTP Stage II heads @ 226/.581 112cam, 12 bolt, 4.10s. 11.4 @ 120mph. AFR's are great also. The 225's @ your cam choices would make a nice combo.

why not get GTP to port some AFRs for you.... that would be the best of both worlds.

My friend has a 02 SS going 10.80's with the Patriot heads. He recently bought some AFR 205's. The machine shop flowed both of them and he said the AFR's severely outperformed the Patriots and he wasn't impressed at all with them.

As for them making power.... any after market heads will make decent power. It just depends on how much you want. But like the ol sayin goes... "you get what you pay for" and those AFR's are some bones. Patriots are good for the price.

There was a guy at my work (also a person who doesnt have an ls1, who thinks that they know everything about ls1's) trying to tell me that those where THE BEST too. Where are these people getting this info from. Def. not from this site. Then again he told me to not look at QTP/kooks for headers because Hookers are just as good in his opinion.

Sucks for PP....They should have priced their heads at <$2k, and thrown some bones to the popular people...Then they'de be Gods.....

Too realistic to be trendy.....Now for our next epic..The rise and fall of AFRs.....Soon to be followed by All Prps and Edelbrocks....

Do what I do....Don't go to the dyno...And especially avoid the racetrack...Just follow popular opinion on message boards...Hey dude..I ROCK!
