i keep breaking valvesprings, they are rev extremes, i was wondering if patriots valve springs were any good, i have a .581 lift cam in it,
any help would be appreciated

You're breaking "rev extreme valvesprings" after how many miles? .581 lift isn't that huge for aftermarket springs. What are they rated at? Patriot makes a dual spring good to .650" lift and MANY people on here use them. I have Comp 918 single springs on my .600" lift cam and no problems so far...knock on wood.

 

get the patriot dual gold ones and dont look back , their affordable and kick ***

 

they have about 15k miles on them, but some idiot at turtle wax over reved the car a couple times trying to get it over the hump.

could there be anyway these things break without over revving the motor?

 

You're saying some jackass that works at turtle wax took your car past redline trying to get it over a bump?!! I would have gone ballistic on that idiot! 15K miles is a lot when it comes to springs that work w/ a higher lift cam like that. I intend to check mine around 10K to see how they're holding up.

 

first thing to do is find out why they keep breaking. are these single or dual valve springs. maybe the spring height isn't right. maybe causing slight coil bind and over time tearinh the springs up. currently i've been using the vinci/crane dual springs on the wife's car for almost 11 months with no issues.

I have 918's on my cam that is .601 lift. Had them on their for 15,000 and just swapped them out for some new 918's. They held up just fine and I'm by no means easy on my car.

 

how can you tell if they are getting worn out, other than them breaking

 

Spring pressure tester, but the springs need to be removed. Might as well buy new springs...probably cheaper than the tester.
