What's the real benefit of this anyway? Only things I can think of is no more bent pushrods or collapsed lifters.

Losing a cam belt or oil pump belt is much more expensive than losing a supercharger, waterpump, or alternator belt.

Those are two benefits, but you also loose a lot of valve train weight, and less weight = more power; especially when it comes to the valve train.

He probably put a huge stroker crank in it.

someone posted about 4 valves, but a sohc would only have 2 valves ... it should make more power without having to move lifters and pushrods

It's a wash. If it were DOHC and C5R type ports then we'd have something to talk about. Just throwing the cams over the heads (SOHC) doesn't gain you *much* over the stock setup.

Its in a issue of kitcar.

The guy that is using this car is scrach building a ferrari GTO. Buit the frame and the body. He is using a vette c5 drivetrain I believe.

oh and there is a phone # to contact the guy that does the SOHC conversion.

Here is a link to a thread I just started with a picture of the guy's personal ride, little did I know the subject of SOHC conversions had already come up.

For the SOHC SBC Motor he built, he had these inserts he could remove to unrestrict the intake port (because pushrods in sbcs kinda got in the way).
