5.3 Head flow numbers
5.3 Head flow numbers What kind of flow numbers would be good for a set of 5.3 heads. I have a set of ported 5.3s with the stock valves. However I am planning to put some bigger valves, and I wanted to know if I should have some more port work done to them. The heads are TEA 5.3 stage 1s that have been reworked by a local porter for a bit better flow. The work on the heads were done by the previous owner but he was running a bit smaller cam that I plan to run.
I was told the heads flow 285/250 with stock 5.7 valves. I was already planning to go bigger with the valves, and since the heads only have 918s on them, I am going to replace those with some better springs since I want to go with a pretty big cam. As far as the port volume, I don't know, but hopefully I can find out from the previous owner.

Our latest 2.02 valve program is flowing arounf 315+, If you go to a larger valve you will need the valve job blended to the port for best results.
It should pick you up a bunch provided the local porter didn't kill them.

does the exhuast flow number sound right to you? It seems kind of high considering the intake isn't that high. The previous owner used alot of nitrous with the heads and they were apparently working pretty good.

Before the heads go on, I am going to have the valves changed, and I will have the flowed again so I can see where they are. I am hoping to put a MS3 cam with these heads, and a 100 shot. You don't by chance know if the ms3 is going to fit?
