I would rather see the 402. I just put 205's on my 383 and it put down 497/460 thru a 9 inch and I'm going to put 225's on as soon as they come out to see the difference in them.
I will post my 205 results in dyno section sometime this weekend.

Tony the 402 setup we have with the AFR 225's is sick. We got the heads taken care of. The car made 550 rwhp SAE corrected. Ran it at the track and did low 11's and a 10.26 forgot the MPH on the NO2(150 shot). Thats with a M6. The car makes crazy power. So do the 402/408

You should have made this into a poll where we can vote and see the results.
Maybe the admins can turn it into one?

Everyone that took part in the thread could just take a second to vote.
I didn't know how to do that....I'm sure one of the moderators will help us out.
THANKS!

had you possed this question a year ago the 383 probably would of been the way to go. but with the massive interest in the aluminim 402's (just check SDPC's thread in the ls2 section), and the results mikey has shown with his 402 build ups its a no brainer. a 402 stroker shortblock will run you ~4500 after tax and shipping w/ no core. and with the new ls2 block people dont have to decide if the weight gain of the 6.0 iron block is worth just doing an all stroke 383. the 402 makes the most business sence as it will only grow in popularity especially after the KS issue has been worked out.
the 383 would be a nice build up but it seems to be catering to a smaller and smaller audience.
whatever you do Tony im sure its gonna be killer

Well, I'd like to see both, but I know how expensive that gets. (Money and time wise)
The 402 since I have to choose. After I get the kinks out of my S-15 swap, that's probably the direction I'll take. As for the KS issue, Perry Kincy seems to be having good luck with them on the side of the block.

I am building a 402 (403 actually) using the 4.005 mahle pistons. I wanted the afr heads but tony was busy and I needed the small chamber heads. I am using a large cam with the patriot 2.08/1.60 heads...I have been doing quite a bit of cleanup porting and polishing the heads...a little more attention to detail and they would be great heads.

I would prefer a 383. When I build a motor for my car, probably three years away, I want to keep my block and reuse it. It's kind of a sentimental/emotional reason, but I'd rather build a motor with my block I have now than go for an entirely new engine, even if it means less power.
