Default Good set of heads for my cam?

Would anyone know what would be a good set of heads for my cam? I just cancelled my extended warranty, so I'm planning on slapping on a good set of heads as soon as that check comes in.

Most people will telll you that a good set of AFR 205's will show some really good gains, and are some of the best heads out there. Also, check with Mikey, at Rapid Motorsports www.rapidmotorsports.com His dominator heads have shown really good results, and he's a great guy to deal with. Just remember, that you really get what you pay for, when it comes to heads.

I've been looking into a set of AFR's since everyone seems to be very happy with their quality and results, but I'm just not sure on what size heads to go with (205's, 225's, etc...). I'm hoping to get up to around the 430-450 range. I will also be installing a pulley and cutout before I get some heads.

I would say go with the 205's. Your cam is not a monster by todays standard, and from what has been said in a few other threads is that the 225 will only show a major difference in flow up closer to the .600 lift.

I would assume that you would make better average power with the 205's with your cam, unless you plan on running a big shot of nitrous down the road. With a pulley and cutout, I could see you hitting 430+ pretty easy with the 205's depending on what your baseline dyno looks like.

Good luck with your choice.

AFR is definately a great option! You might also research PRC heads. We have several sets in stock & there has been some pretty good results with them lately. I would say you can't go wrong with either set because both are designed to be a top quality product using really high quality parts

Thanks all. I'll have to look into the PRC heads as well. Prostock_bigblock, those are some nice numbers that you got with the G5x3 and AFR's!! I'm hoping to luck out and pull some good numbers with some heads too. One more question, will it hurt the car any if I don't get it tuned right away? I am planning on having it retuned as soon as I get the heads though.

It wont hurt it at all. I would see if your tuner would proratre you next tune, if he charges you full price for the first one though. I wouldnt pay twice for a tune if I didnt have to. Good Luck.
