Default Thinking about some heads

Just looking for opinions. Thinking again about going heads and cam. I've narrowed my choices to these two.

MTI stage 2E or TEA stage 2 both 5.7 LS1 castings.

Also, I've noticed A lot of guys seem to be running 5.3 castings. Whats the benefit in this?

Thanks to all

The 5.3L heads will give you added compression. The PRC 5.3L heads raise the compression to 10.8 unmilled.

Thats what I thought, do they flow much/ifany worse than a 5.7L casting?

Why so? The stage 2 doesn't seem to flow too much more than the 1.5's.

Check my sig GMPP LS6 heads are unbeatable for the price. They make badass power. These heads don't just make the advertised peak number people like to brag about, it's the killer flow through out the 500's also.

Ya those do look pretty nice, a bit more pricey than either the MTI or TEA's at about $2k for the pair.I assume one would want to upgrade the springs though as they are the stock '02 ZO6 springs.

They were 1899.00, they make awesome power even with a small cam. My cam is 228/230 .591/.581 112 lsa. and I made 437/407 through a 12 bolt with 4:10 gears and 18X10.5" Z06 wheels.

All else being stock? Do you think I would I be able to hope for close to the same numbers with an otherwise stock setup and a slightly more aggressive cam(no idea which yet, haven't even begun researching that)

TEA stage 1.5 rev 2. Flow great and for a very reasonable price. I'm saving for them.

That's what I was thinking, but for a few hundred more you can get new LS6 castings ported by LPE, which if I've seen correct numbers, outflow the TEA as well. Decisions, decisions.....

The 5.3L castings flow better than 5.7L heads IMO.

Nope, I am also running the GMPP LS6 heads. They are an incredible head. I had them independently flowed on flowbench(no exhaust tube), and they flow every bit what they advertise. Remember, these are stock valves that are outperforming some big name heads where it counts the most....the mid lift numbers. Peak cfm is worth nothing more than bench racing. If you wanna go fast, it's all about the low/mid range numbers.

My car is a 99. Its a different bore size. I understand the head flows great but what about the fact that the combustion chamber is larger than my bore size. What is the effect there is the question?
