Which shaft mounted rockers do not require any machining to the head? Thanks

I just bolted on a set of Comp, had to enlarge the pushrod holes in the head because I am running a .600 lift cam. The rockers are a bolt on with stock OD springs. Also had to buy valve cover spacers. They dont fit real good, had to grind on them. It is never easy, but my experience has been that it is worth it because valve train is probably the weakest link in a pushrod motor. Buy the best rockers, pay the price, set them up right and you should never have a problem.

they all require something........even my "little" .575 lift cam required the pushrod holes be opened up and the gasket "rail" of the head required grinding to clear the back of the rockers. They will ALL need taller valve covers/spacers.


I used the Comp/T&D rockers

1) The pushrod holes definitely need elongation and a word of warning - be careful to not poke through the intake wall.

2) The inside rail of the head, where the pushrod end of the rocker rotates, needs to checked and clearenced appropriately

3) Pushrod length can be as short as 7.050 (as short as we have seen) so watch for that.

The jesels have not needed any on most of ours but the valve covers require some clearancing on all of them I think.

Shaft rockers are never meant to be a bolt on. These are just issues that have to be dealt with.

im using jesel shaft mounts and all i had to do was remove the oil baffles and clean up some of the underside of the valve cover. you could also get spacers. bolted right on and fired up!
