I would liek to see some independant shops flow #s for these various heads, not the manufactures claimed #s. Seems there is alot of overly optimistic #'s floating around. Like many people have said before, impressively high peak flow #'s mean nothing for street cars if they dont flow very well in the mid lifts.

For the price of the 225's it's real hard to beat them.
You get a better casting, and a very consistant head.
Unless you are going extreem race the AFR will work real nicely.

well TEA reworked my afr 205's the afr's 205's straight out of the box(no mill) netted me 435rwhp with an fm11 cam-great heads-instead of waitin for the 225's from afr, i had tea work sum majic on my heads. also had them port match my 90mm fast intake. now i have a bigger cam fm14-milled the heads .024 and with the pistons .008 out of the hole, i used a cometic .045 head gasket for a .037 quench. so im hopin for 450plus to the tire. hopin to dyno in about a month. need to break in my new rear, tranny and clutch

I dunno if their mail order stuff is as good as the stuff they do in house, but Cartek has some badass heads. You can spend over 5000 on heads no problem.

New ls6 or bare AFR castings, titanium valves, and a top of the line port job will kick ***.

Why high flowing heads for the small 347 ? Isn't nitrous faster when you really need to go fast.

AFR 225 heads matched with a larger displacement 427 LS1 makes more sense to me.

Thumbs up

Having seen many many LSx heads, the only ones flowing the huge 350-375 cfm numbers are the ones we have done at the school by Casey Schneider and Brandon and those by Greg Good so far. We have also had some very nice heads that we are about to use at HPE and we will let people know. I have yet to see them but when they are done I will know something. Working at SAM and owning the machine shop at HPE I at least know those facts. There may be others out there but we have been going over 140 MPH NA for a long time and now are over 150!

Saying all that, the AFRs are very very good heads and I have used them in all sorts of applications and been extremely happy with all my results so I also really believe in the AFR stuff both Ford and Chevy and they are much more like what most people are looking for in these apps. I don't think anything out there is really any better than the AFRs right now but I will get back when we have more results from our newer heads and different castings that should be pretty incredible. These include the ETP castings, the Edelbrocks and the All-Pros etc. The LS6 heads at SAM are pretty wild stuff but still pretty reasonable port sizes and stock castings so the fact that we can go way over 150 mph on motor is just unbelievable!

I impressed no one has mentioned the ALL Pro Heads, or ETP. Also, ETP will hand port AFR heads right?
I agree anytime you say "best flowing" its open to interpretation. Highest absolute flow numbers dont always equate to quickest setup, or most power.

From Gollum:

Thats debatable. My cam was ground based off AFR 225 62cc heads on a APE 347 Mild compression bottom end, all based off intended use, times, weight etc. So, I dont think its a waste to go larger heads on a smaller displacement, not that I would throw a set of 225's on a otherwise untouched 346. As I said, my cam is spec'd by EDC for those heads and my car.
