Hey guys, ive got an 00 Z bolt on car and im planning on putting an X3 cam or a fm 15 cam. I have a set of comp 921 and hardened pushrods just laying around and i want to install them but i wont have the cam for a couple of months (waiting to get ls6 intake and ported throttle body etc...) My question is will the car be ok running the 921's until i get my cam or is that to much spring for a stock camed car?

its not a matter of what i would gain, its just that i want to install them to get it out of the way, there just sitting in my garrage ill have to install them when i get the cam anyway so i figured might as well do it now as long as i wont hurt anything. So does anybody know if it will hurt anything

Just out of curiosity wouldnt installing the 921 kit which includes the ti retainers hardened seats etc.. and hardened push-rods help my performance a little?

better valvetrain stability at higher RPMs

I have 918's with the stock cam and Ti retainers and hardened pushrods. This was done after launching at 6600+ rpm (about 20 passes) on the stock valvetrain and it messing up a few things.

There is nothing wrong with doing it, in fact I would personally prefer to do it before and save yourself the headache and some time from the cam install. The spring install ate up about 2-3hrs on a friends car.

Go ahead and swap them. If you picture what is happening, the stock cam may be smaller but it's still a solid piece of metal pushing up on the lifters. Not like the stronger springs are going to suffocate it, lol. Only question: Do you have a GOOD spring tool?

Actually I made one when I helped my friend change his springs, works great
