Comp 921's
I have 918's with the stock cam and Ti retainers and hardened pushrods. This was done after launching at 6600+ rpm (about 20 passes) on the stock valvetrain and it messing up a few things.
There is nothing wrong with doing it, in fact I would personally prefer to do it before and save yourself the headache and some time from the cam install. The spring install ate up about 2-3hrs on a friends car.
