If your to rich you can wash the cylinder walls with fuel and burn up your rings.

i think it takes a little while for your rings to become noticably damaged from running rich but the i believe the signs are poor compression, loss of performance and after a while you'll start burning oil. i'm pretty sure that as long as you get it tuned before too long that you'll have nothing to worry about.

Gas mileage is a very poor measure of AFR. If your AFR isn't close to 14.7:1 during normal driving you'll get an SES indication. It's a bit premature to be worrying about rings.

Constant rich builds up a lot of carbon on the top of pistons, bottom of valves, and cylinder heads.

carbon build up will also cause ur compression to go up and ur engine will knock. Ur oil will get contaminatedand u will have to change it more often
