Default HELP! Awnser please.

So im driving my car on the highway i hit it a few times having fun with some friends and then i get off the highway, my oil pressure just goes to 0 when at stop. When im driving its at about 10 psi. Dont know what wrong.

Normally i start the car, and it starts at about 50-55psi then settles in between 20-40 psi. Depeding how im driving. Not sure whats wrong with it right now. Im at a friends house and im just letting it sit for the time being. Any info would help thanks!

Dude, park your car immediately and change the oil pump!!! You have one of those pumps that dies without warning.

ahh. Should i just buy an ls6 oil pump then? im gettin new cam and stall installed friday, so i guess ill get one of those.

I still have a 15 minute drive home. Will it be ok to drive home, or am i going to hurt it. I think if i let it sit for a little while it will go back to normal.

bad o ring. or ur pump might be on the way out, or u could have one of the lines blocked. or ur oil sendign unit might have craped out. Firts check the sendign unit thats the essiest just reach in the back of the intake and you'll feel it back there is a long sigar shaped sensor connected to the block.

i went ahead and drove it home. Just got home, ever light i came to the car would surge and act like its about to die, but luckely it didnt and i made it home ok. But the oil pressure was low the whole way home. with the occasional surging to 0 at a stop light. Im gettin cam and stuff put on, on friday so i will have them check it out. See whats wrong.

Mani I hope you didnt toast your motor, especially hearing about the motor surging. Not a good sign. Theres a good chance your bearings are scarred or even spun now.

Yea no ****. im not starting it back up till friday. See how its running then, and its going the to the shop that day anyways. Ill get a tow truck if its still doing then same. The only time it showed know oil psi, is when i was at a light. Its strange, dont know why it started doing this. It was fine until i hit it a few times on the highway

Older oil pumps hav an issue with teh releif valve (the part that gets shimmed) sticking open at WOT. Basically, when youre up in the RPMs, the relatively high volume and pressure of oil cant be pushed through the motor, so instead there is a pressure releif valve. Looks like it might have stuck open on you and when youre at idle at a light, the normal ammount of oil that would have gone circulating through the motor is now just bypassing through the open releif valve.

well its been 2 days and i went just now and started the car up to see what it would do, and the oil pressure is back up to normal it was at about 50 psi when i started it. My question is, if i had messed something up ie. spun a rod bearing would i know it? as in, would there still be no oil pressure? would i hear anything coming from the engine? thanks!

see my first post on how to find it. basically u looking to check it's not brocken of the metal niple, it is a plastic sensor connected to a metal pice, and they break of alot there, casusing it to send no oil presure reading one minute, then the next when it makes contact again walla u got oil presure again, so just check it to make sure it's in one piece. It might not be that since u said u had surging the other day, but considering the alternative, and how easy it is to check, why not do it?
