Default Doing AFR heads and Fast intake and poly mounts this weekend have questions

I will be installing heads intake and poly mounts this weekend. Would it be easier to drop the motor from the bottom to do the job or just leave the motor in the car?
I want to do it the easy way with no problems. Is there a link to anywhere on what is involved to dropping the motor from the bottom? I have the instructions from LS1howto that shows me everything from the top. I have been reading the motor mounts are a real bitch to do also?

Drop the entire k-frame motor assembly from the bottom. Much easier to do it all that way.

Well if you're just doing heads, I'd leave it in the car. But out the bottom is supposedly eaiser if you really need to remove the whole engine.

That is what I really wanted to do but what is involved as far what needs to be disconnected to bring that down? Brake lines, AC system,Wire harness plugs what else am I missing?

Is there a particular reason that you want to drop the whole engine?? Heads are fairly easy to do in the car.

I thought it would be easier because of the poly motor mounts? I also wanted to do a nice clean job so I had no problems with the Cometic gaskets and also did not want to break the oil sender on back of intake.

I say just leave it in the car, since your just doing heads. As far as the poly mounts, just lift the motor up enough from the oil pan and then slide them out and then slide the poly back in. I wouldnt pull the motor for swapping heads and intake.

Yeah...leave it in the car unless you have unlimited access to a nice shop with a lift. The headers will be off and out of the way so the motor mounts won't be to hard to get too. I'd take off the intake, remove the alternator, PS pump and steering knuckle. Then unbolt the headers from the heads. Remove the heads. You may have to loosen and remove one of the motor mount through-bolts. Then jack up the engine to get the headers completely out of the car. Now you'll have plenty of room to do the mounts. I'm the outside in the driveway install specialist...

I do have access to my buddies shop that has ever tool you could think of. I see everyone has good point to leave the motor in the car. I did not think it would be a easy clean up job or getting the head bolts torqued with the motor in the car. I will be using ARP head bolts so that may make it easier than the stock TTY head bolts? I may have to re think my plan on dropping the motor or not.

Thanks for all the good feedback guys keep them coming.

If you want to drop it just for the hell of it, go ahead, but you definitely don't need to in order to do that stuff.
