If you can't make at least 700 rwhp with C5R heads, you need to change engine builders. Although C5R and pump gas don't belong in the same sentence.

I'm not sure what HP goal you have... but for 28 grand.. it better make more then that. Eastside could build you a 427 that would make that kind of power for a hell of a lot less then 28 grand I'm sure. And as for the c5r heads.. before I'd go blowing that kind of $$, I'd think about having a seto fo allpro's done for your application ( wether it be FI or N/A)

Better make that decision first, n/a or fi before you go having anything done. That will determine alot with what sleeves will work, etc. etc.

Lyle, you should call Kurt at Wheel to Wheel. If you're no afraid of spending some coin, they can build you an engine that will put a huge smile on your face.

IMO they are the most proven sponsor on this board. They're making more power than anyone and you don't have to be concerned about getting bent over.

Quicken I have a C5R used topend with all the goodies, on a 402 iron block it made 751 flywheel. Let me know if your interested. I am going to put together a new 402 or 427 and the used C5R topend and sell it.

I wouldn't pay 28K for that motor. If you're serious about making power I'd call somewhere like Reher-Morrison.

Seriously, $28K is alot of money, and I've known more than a few people who have had problems with big money builds and MORE. You can do MUCH better for the money. W2W would be my first choice by a long shot looking at the power you're trying to make.

Why not? There are plenty of folks at 800+ HP on the street. Sure, its can be somewhat usless froma dig. But from a roll its pretty crazy.

regardless of where you go, or who you get it from, i say the only way to go is an iron block stroker motor. i'd get a 402-408 low comp motor and turbo charge it. i'm thinking you can have well over a thousand fwhp for half of what MORE is asking for their n/a motor. you can run less boost w/ pump gas for the street... and it will be very driveable, or use race gas and pump up the boost for track use. w/ a turbo the possiblities are practically endless. the iron block is much cheaper than the aluminum blocks, and WORLDS cheaper than the C5-R block, they don't need all the machining that the aluminum ls/c5-r blocks need, and are very strong. SPEEDINC. built a customer car that had a iron block 370 motor (stock crank) w/ a t-76 turbo that made over 600 rwhp on pump gas... w/ a MILD cam. IMO you can't beat that. and obviously if you went w/ the forged iron block stroker motors you could have more power everywhere in the RPM band.

I was just curious why a 422 with nitrous was not enough. Your money I guess.

I would call Kurt from W2W and just send the car up there. You will not be disappointed. www.w2wpowertrain.com

I'd keep the 436, rework the bottom end for boost then add the FI of your choice. That would be pretty crazy.

Just dont forget the combustion chamber size for the C5-R head. Its in the 38cc neighborhood. Which generally on a 427 has compression at 15.5:1. FI doesnt bode well with that. You would have to have a setup like hardcore's T/A. C5-R heads with specially made spacers to up the CC. If you want 800 street horse power any turbo 400+ci LS motor will get you that without the issues of the C5-R heads, and you dont even need a solid roller setup. Its alot of damn money just to say you have a C5-r setup.

You can get the compression down with the piston design as well.
I have a set of pistons that I was going to use with my C5R setup back when I was going turbo that are -54cc dishes.
It brought compression right over 9:1

i'm not knockin' your way of doing things, but that also brings down the strength of the pistons.
