Max Flycut depth for factory LS1 piston

Whats the max depth you can flycut an LS1 piston?
.050
.070
.100

I thought someone told me .100 but just want to make sure.

Some of mine are at .100 and have been like that for a while without a problem.

I have been a good bit over .100" on both the intake/exhaust on "personal" motors with no problems. I just would just keep it strictly n/a at that point. lol

Just flycut for the amount needed. Too much and you loose SCR, not to mention it makes it weaker.

I don't know how you guys get such exact cuts, I ended up somewhere around .057-.070. It was really tough to be accurate on my car.

Ok, sounds good. Is there any accurate way to measure how deep the flycuts are?

You can use the valve drop method,where you set the pistons at TDC, and measure using a dial indicator. before and after dropping the valve on to the top of the piston. You can use a feeler gauge and your finger nail to feel when the notch has the correct feeler gauge in it. Also you can measure the width of the eyebrow with a digital micrometer once you have established the depth you want on at least one flycut.Lastly you can put the end of a digital micrometer in the notch for measurment.

I attached some that were 0.170" intake/0.130" exhaust.

The piston still needs to be deburred and polished before final assembly. I'll snap some pics of those tomorrow.
