Default Oil consumption/burning

Have a customer with an iron motor (built for nitrous supposedly) Ive had many LS1 burn a little oil, but never one like this. The first pull I made on the dyno, I could smell oil burning midway through the pull. Not after, while idling or from the exhaust standing behind it, but actually sitting in the car making the pull.

It is definitely down on power, but its running through a VERY restrictive exhaust, and want to go thru it and see what issues it may have. It pings a bit at low (3000) and right before peak torque RPM (4300) no matter what timing and air fuel (all the way down to 18 degrees and 11.8:1)

That makes me think its definitely consuming oil and detonating. Need to figure if its a systemwide deal (just some .028 thou ring gaps and needs a 250 shot to seal it up) or a couple cylinders are loose. PCV line looks to be dry no oil, so Im thinking rings or valveguides are way loose

Stock 6.0 heads, mid 240s duration cam, shorty headers, 370+ inches. Is there some way o measure blowby with some sort of accuracy? besides a leak down anything else you guys can think of to check? It was running a oil commonly recommended on here, but was thinking of switching to Valvoline racing or something with a bit more viscosity to see if it would keep it from pushing the oil

I like the idea of putting some longtubes on it and hitting it with the 250 shot myself

maybe he wsa running lean so long he caused some internal damage causing the burning oil? just another possibility, although i have seen/read shitty built engines that the cyls were out of round or the rings fit too loosely

This engine was built by Ron at GMMG and only has 1400 miles on it, it was supposedly in perfect shape when I picked it up.

may not have been properly broken in, how many quarts do you consume over a certain interval?

not sure yet, as we found we had consumption issues on its first time tuned/on the dyno. I only drive it about 100-200 miles before that.

1400 miles is enough to break motor in, we cant vouch for what tuneup was in the other vehicle, but the first time it saw WOT in this setup, was a nice 13.0 air fuel from the street tune Id had loaded in it. Kept pulling it richer after that but no helping the detonation

I know what you mean, but I cant say (and woudl want too ) if it was abused by a previous owner, we dont have any way of knowing. It could just be ringed super loose but no one knows
