Default What does SBC stand for in Racing Heads?

I've seen SBC heads listed with LS1 and LS6 heads, what does this stand for. I gather that these are racing verions of LS1 heads, and I can see the flow numbers are listed all the way to .700 lift, is that the big difference in these heads, accomodating huge lift cams?

true they deal with pre LS1 engines, but in some larger parts warehouses, they list the LS1 as SBC-LS1 , and some variations of that,etc.

SBC = small block chevy.

techniclly, the LS1 and LT1 are SBCs too.... however they're diffrent designs (well the LT1 is more of a large revision...)

you have:
gen I = Small block Chevys
gen II = the LT1, and other variants of the LT1 design
gen III = LS1, and other similar variants.

sometimes they call ours SBC gen III sometimes its LSx... but 99% of the time SBC by itself refers to the early 1950s - 1990s first generation Small Block Chevy
