Default LS6 block-No sleeving...want 400+ cubes.

I was talking to my engine builder today and he said that he found a Winberg crank that has a 4.150" stroke. I would like to run the ls6 block and just hone it to fit some new pistons, then run as much stroke as possible. I was telling him we should just make a 383 and grab just a basic forged kit off the shelf. Put he says there is a lot more power to be had. I got a deal on AFR 225 72cc heads and I am trying to build the Stock ls6 block around them. Would like 500/500.

Also, I am new to the chevy side (Coming from an 03 cobra). How much can the ls6 block handle without sleeves?? How many guys out there are running 400+ cubes with the ls6 block no sleeves?? This 4.150 crank is like 2800 bucks I think. That just seems crazy to me. I would like to keep it aluminum cause its going back in the z06 and I would like to keep weight down for auto-x'ing.

Thanks in advance.

For $2800 bucks you could have a re-sleeved LS-6 block and get big cubes. I wouldn't run a 4.150 stroke crank in a stock honed block. The rod angle would create heavy side loads and in turn make for a short engine life. Your best bet will be to get a eagle 4.100" stroker kit and make a 393. The full eagle kit is about $2k and you have your crank, rods, pistons, and rings. You can then hone your stock block to 3.905 and install the kit. If I were stuck with only using a stock LS-6 block, this is the way I would go. In no way would I go over 4.125 on the stroke. Your just getting way out of round IMO.

I wouldn't even consider this build. It is a waste IMO.
Beast hit the nail on the head.
If you want safe cheep 400+ cubes without the weight go with the LS2 block.
You run a 4" bore and a 4" stroke for 402 cubes.
This is a much better build.
If the LS2 dosen't look good to you then resleave the current motor, shift at 7000 rpm's with a 388 all bore or go with a 383/396 combo.
I personially like the 388 better then the 383 or 396 and the LS2 402 is again a damn good option.

Windberg Crankshafts are pretty much the most expensive cranks you can buy.we run them in our Dodge R5/P7 motors drop the windberg for a callies and sleeve the block with the price difference
