Default MTI B1 vrs. TR 224 114lsa

I have a B1 cam sitting my shelve wating to be installed but I am also leaning towards the TR224. Does anybody have experience with both of these cams. I am looking for good power all the way to 6500 rpm while maintaning good driveability.

I have the TR227, just a tad bigger on the intake but also on a 114. Drives great & made some good gains on the track. Never been on a dyno thought.

Since you allready have the B1 go with it. The TR224 will be a tad stronger than the B1 throughout the rev range but not enough to buy another cam.

I had a variation of the B1/t1 ground on a 116LSA instead of the 114 I bought the cam used for very cheap and it made good power over the 02 ls6 cam I had. I ended up putting in a TR224/114lsa because again I got it dirt cheap..... it made about 10rwhp more across the board with about the same gain in TQ but i picked up 2 mph in the 1/4. The TR224 Idled a lot better than the .221/116 ....I know it sounds odd but with the faster ramp rates of the TR224 I think it worked out to have less overlap than the .221/116(forget the actuall #s)
But If I had to do all over....I would have just saved my pennies and put something bigger than both those cams in.

I have the TR224. I like the cam. Its on a 114 and the lobe is just enough to say to the car next to you you'll lose, but not lobie enough to take away from the vette mestic.

The power drops off at 6000. reving to 6500 wont do your car justice. Its not a cam made for high rev power. Go with bigger if you want that, but you'll lose low end.

I have the B1, and it lopes pretty hard in my car. Sounds a lot better then both my friend's TR224. I don't think you will see enough difference to warrent going with the 224. Also, the B1 is ground on the old lobe style (XE I guess) so it is easier on valve springs (I also think that is why it lopes more, but not sure).

Thanks for the replies. I forgot to mentioned... The cam is is not installed yet. I still have the 212/218 baby cam in there. I can easily sell the B1 and find me a TR224. Money is not an issue.

I have the B-1 and its loaded for bear on the street.I drive to the track on M/T's and dip into the high 11's.I think its a smart cam because as mentioned the peak is lower,I shift at 6200,which saves the motor for the long run and the torque is awesome.

I think all these cams are too close, if you are going through the trouble to swap cams, do a big one so it is worth it.

I had the TR224 in my z28. It made 395rwhp, and ran a 12.5 @114 on street tires. I Will put the tr224 in my next ls1 car (when i get one)
