Hi,
Yes i did, the same thing as you actualy. I looked around and found a wrecked Lumina SS motor for 2000 dirhams ($560)
So i swapped the cam in, changed heads, thin .045 gasket and I was good to go.

I just got a set of PRC heads, they will go on next week. I have to get ready for September racing.

The Camaro is only racing now, I ended up buying a used 03 Corvette 50th anniversary to drive around.

Are you going to put another cam in? Be merciful and stick to 7000 rpm max otherwise you'll be Kabooming again.
Do you tune your car yourself?
Otherwise I recommend Allen Nelson at Nelson Performance, his tunes are really good and he will update them free whenever you need to.

u did a good move , camaro for race , corvette for pimpin ..

we also took the block from a caprice , the only things that we cant use from luminas and caprices is the oil pan ,, the one we r using now was previously used on the broken block it haas some damage we weld it a little until we order one ,

sorry but what do u mean by PRC heads am no good in abb ,

yeah as u can see early in this thread there is some pic of the G5X3 we were using , i dont think we can use it again SO am bringing another cam in, but am not sure which cam am going to go with maybe T rex , my partner wants to try T rex i want to go with F14

tuning !! i work on the Dyno the first 4*4 dyno in the area and the first dyno in saudi arabia , when we close the shop i start until the morning we started with 378 hp and tq and we ended with 441 hp and 439 torq , maybe i can seek help from allen when i face some difficulties,

Sweet, maybe I should come to Saudi to Dyno LOL.

I meant I got a set of Precision Race Components (PRC) stage 2.5 5.3L ported heads with 2.04 intake valves and 1.585 exhaust.
If all goes well it should beanother 30rwhp or so.

If you like N2O that much why not go with the FM 9 from Futral, it is a nitrous grind.

The stock Cobra bottom end consists of Carillo rods and JE pistons from the factory if memory serves me correctly. No PM rods, and cast pistons like an LS1.

If you're going to compare, compare the Cobra motor to the LS7 as the build of the two is similar. If you want to comapre an LS1, compare it to a 4.6L 2V motor.

G5X3 is more of a nitrous grind than the FM 9. **** bro, if you want a bad *** cam thats not as big as the TreX but bigger than the f14 try the g5x4 <--- BAD *** nitrous cam

I only spin my x3 to 6.8k

Yeah, sure that is why they are failing one after another at those power levels.
Nice try.

How are you gonna say the G5X4 is not as big as a trex?? Do you know the specs of both?

I'd also like to add the G5X4 is also an exceptional NA cam as well. The 2 quickest naturally aspirated cam only cars run the G5X4.

Con rod soup anyone? I'd be proud of that **** personally, at least you found the weak spot on RPMs. How man 7.5K runs has that motor had on it?

BTW Mr. Cobra many, there are prime examples of guys in the FI section making 600 RWHP on stock bottom ends without problems. Take into account that you have ~65 cubes less along with a forged bottom end and there is less mass to be spinning the motor that hot. I still can't understand why people by a blower car and than immediately swap the blower out or even better yet, convert it over to a turbo

I don't know the specs of either cam so I cannot really say what is larger than the other.. but I do know there is only so much camshaft you can fit under a stock headed car.. and the G5X4 is pretty close to that limit, so if the trex is larger, it wouldn't be by much..

What I do know though.. is that the G5X4, for as large as it is.. idle's and drives pretty well in my car.. when it's fully hot I can have the thing idle at 600 rpm's without dying out.

G5X4 rules.

what rod bolts were you using. I"m sure that attributed to the failure. Spinning the stock motor that high is asking for trouble. Hope you don't try it again.... you certainly would go faster shifting earlier.

I'm the one who blew that engine up .. the car was making 441hp and 410tq through a 10 bolt moser rear end . the prblem is that i forgot the rev limiters at 7500 when i was using the M/T tiers which will never allow the car to spin to reach the rev limiter when i swaped the tiers to a street tiers i forgot to decrease the limiter and that is what caused this thing to happen .one week before that i was travling to the eastren provence and i drove that car for about 30 mins 6th gear and prm between 4200-4700 that is about 290 320 km with 3.73 s may be that helped a lil . i raced a 2004 porcsh turbo just before i installed the heads and i was a car lenght ahead at the end of the 4th gear.
the car has a stock engine for now we are biulding a new one with forged internals that will be ready "god willing" at the end of this summer.
by the way the ZR1 owner is a good friend of mine his car put down 380 hp on the same dyno with 4.10s
