Default FAST and AFR225s

How close are the ports on these together? Is there a lot of port matching that needs to be done (on the fast) or ??? does it matter that much?

Pretty close. I'll see if I can take some pics in a bit. THe corners are the only place that I was wondering about.

Actually, there's lots of gains to be had from port matching. Tony Mamo just ported my (soon to be installed) FAST 90. He picked up 5-8 cfm (at the head) by port-matching the runners. That's like bolting up a head that flows 5-8 cfm better once it's done. I'd post pictures, but I don't want to be giving away Tony's secrets. Feel free to PM him if you want him to do it.

Awesome.... picking up 8cfm at the heads would definately be worth the trouble depending on cost of course.

Here the #1 intake port. The intake is only sitting on top of the heads which are not torqued down yet. The Fast sidewalls are maybe .030" too narrow, so not much work at all to even them up. My concern is down at the bottom corners.

You could either fill the Fast corners in a bit (not a good idea, if what ever you filled it with came loose) or port match the heads a bit. Thats a scarey thing to do to such expensive heads.

I didn't know Tony was offering this service. I must hound him now!

Tooonnnnyyyyyyyyyy its meeeee agaiiiiiin

I've also included another pic with is the Intake/TB port of the fast intake. Searching the forums, I've found where someone asked if anyone has smoothed that little rige down, but he never got an answer, so maybe someone can chime in here.

I really wish the stock LS1/6 intakes came apart like this, It would be awesome to get in there like you can with the FAST intakes.

Looks pretty damn close to me.
I can see where port matching could help a little though.

A little OT for the thread but is there any benefit to hand finishing/polishing out the CNC markings in the runners of AFRs heads?

In a word....No

And if done improperly can adversely effect the flow of the head. That's some of the finest CNC work on the planet....display it proudly!
