subframe connectors is a must.
next I would get a lid and a full exhaust.
next i would look for a decent cam, and when you do the cam get new pushrods, valvesprings, and timing chain.
if you can do all this yourself it will be around 3,000. you might have to buy some parts used. then i would look into getting a good tune when you get the cam in. usually places charge about 450 for a dyno tune.

I would't recommend doing all of it at once. space it out and see if the mods you put on did anything to the car good/bad.

sweet, thanks alot
here is what I plan to do with the money:
lid
Spohn Sfc's
BMR Lca's
Spohn lca relocation bracket
BMR torque arm
Pacesetter LT's
True Duals
then when I get enough saved up, TEA stage 2 heads/cam package, then 12 bolt when 10 bolt craps out, and Ram HD clutch when stocker goes out and dyno tune by ls1 speed inc.

dont wait for the stocker to go out either. you may wait weeks to get parts or tear something else up. i blew mine with bolt ons and 45k miles and i never launched on the clutch

dont get a better clutch until your stocker gives out
his user name is very fitting to what he may have seen about these prices. long tubes are not 300 bucks. you will spend about 550 getting most of what you need. dyno tunes cost well over even 300 bucks if you want it done right.

o yeah and dont get a shitty hand held. for the price of new tuning software you can get it for a few hundred more and do a hell of a lot more

Just a question, how fast do you plan on going with the car? I'd say if you're wanting to go 11s or faster or such, maybe look to get a chasis mounted torque arm instead of a normal one. Just a though

It's threads like this that make search results so broad.

You asked for opinions and you got mine. If you don't like it, don't ask for it. No need for you to be a dick.

I 2nd the Ford 9". If you have any welding capability, you can snag one out from under a van, or late-70s F150 (they should be about 66" long), cut/narrow to fit(65.5"), weld on a torque arm mount and make some backing plates, and depending on your 3rd member getup, you'll be ready to go.

OR,

Someone on here said Moser sells a housing and axles for $900ish. get that, find a deal on eBay for a 3rd member set up the way you want it, and you'll have a beefy axle for about half the price of getting a complete unit from Moser, Strange, etc.

It all depends on your application, but sence you are starting out your asumption is fine but in my experiance i started small and ended up having to get bigger and better. just a thought though just depends on what you plan on using the car for in the long run have fun moding and enjoy your ride i love mine

How often do you see used duals for sale?

Or "stage 2 LS6 heads with cam and all goodies" for $2k???

And a dyno tune for $200 is obviously out of the question, as well.
