6.5 quarts?

But if the crank is not frothing up the oil (and it won't on the LS1 unless you add at least 2 more quarts) then the benefits of having more oil outweigh everything. Having more oil means your oil will last longer and it should run cooler oil temps too.

Well I guess since the ls1 (after the lt1) the oil level issue has changed somewhat. No longer is it necessary to run only the prescribed amount, perhaps because it's inherently advised to be able to run additional oil for particular instances.

How much to overfill?
Need some advice.
I have a 2002 LS1 oil pan and it has a baffle in it. Maybe they all do and it's a moot point.
Anyway, I roadrace my car, four events with this oil pan.
I put in 6 quarts of oil for the track event.
I have an oil pressure gauge that holds in memory Low/High oil pressure readings.
I reset it every single session and so far, it has never dropped below idle pressure.
Is this a good way to monitor oil pressure or am I still at risk and don't know it? Or maybe I drive like a *****
Thanks

What do you think?
