Oil Pressure

Oil Presure
I installed a new ported oil pump and now I don't have any oil presure. I've enven put the stock pump back on and still no oil presure. Has anyone else had this problem? And if so what did you have to do to fix it.

One O ring on the pickup, and it is really easy to get it kinked. After you get that fixed, remove the oil pessure sender from the back of the block behind the intake and pour about a quart of oil in there through a small tube and funnel, or make a plate to block off the oil filter and pump oil in there. My experience has been that you have to prime these motors or they take forever to get pressure. Your ported pump is probably fine, just needs a prime.

I did a search and read about priming the engine by removing the plate over the oil filter, drilling and taping it , installing a fiting, and priming the pump from there. Would that be the easiest or would removing the intake and doing it from there? Which way would yall do it?

Yes, you need to put the spacers that go between the block and the pump. You can put them on backwards though, which would block off the oil flow to the block. Did you put the driver's side spacer on correctly?

Yeah you need the spacers to clear the double roller timing chain.
And I check the driver side plate several times
I've taken the plate off thats over the oil filter. Going to fix it so that I can hook a hose to it and pump oil back through the engine. Maybe that'll do it.

You don't need to remove the intake to prime into the oil sender. It's not easy to remove sender but it can be done. Napa sells a special socket for oil pressure sender for $6 that is 3/8 drive, with a U joint you should be able to reach it. I did it on my C5, I can't really see it, but I was able to get the socket on and spin it out.

About Puttting The Spacer On. When I Put My Spacer On The The Timing Cover Wouldnt Close. So I Called Slp, Since I Bought The Oil Pump From Them With The Double Timing Chain. And They Told Me To Take The Spacer Out. That I Didnt Need Them.the Reason Im Curious Is That Im Trying To Find Out What Happen To My Engine. After Installing The Oil Pump At A Cold Start The Car Had Over 40 Psi. But The Min. I Hit Traffic That The Car Heats Up A Little Bit The Pressure Will Drop To 20 Or Under. Which Is The Reason I Spun A Bearing.
